Exploring Woluwe

Today was the first day I ventured out on my own! Woohoo! I had one goal in mind, to find the Woluwe Physical Center. The gym is a mile from our place and is in a cute old church. I was all dressed and ready to work out, but like many places, credit cards aren't accepted -so tomorrow I'm headed back with my bank card.

On the way home I finally stopped at the Woluwe Shopping Center which is a 2 minute walk from our apartment. I don't know what I was expecting, but it looks and feels just like an American mall on the inside! They have super cute home stores, a department store similar to Younkers, and TONS of lingerie stores! I learned today that Belgians are fans of PDA. Everywhere I looked people were holding hands or making out, yuck.

Justin and I also made a trip to IKEA to buy pillows, a top sheet, blankets and hangers for our apartment. After a few restless nights we finally purchased a few essential items we have been living without. ( seriously, what who makes a bed with no top sheet, no blankets and pillows so thin they might disintegrate!)

We ate dinner at a cute little Greek restaurant called Mykonos. There was an 84 year old French woman sitting next to us drinking and being slightly obnoxious. The waiter told us she has been dining (really just drinking) there for 25 years and that shes spent so much money there that she should own the place. Apparently her daily routine is 1 small bottle of wine, then a banana liqueur - if she has 2, she becomes a "tigger" as the French waiter called it until I reiterated "tiger" to him, after which he proceeded to put his hands around his neck as if she were a fierce tiger choking him! Everyone in the restaurant appeared to be friends with the old woman. She talked to me for a good minute- even after the waiter said "Mama, do you speak English?" She shook her head no, yet still blabbed away in French.. I just shook my head and laughed :)
