meet breck

Remember how Justin bought that kennel a few days ago in preparation for a dog we didn't have?! Well turns out its a good thing he bought it because just 3 short days later we became puppy parents!! Justin posted an ad on craigslist and a family from Montana contacted us with golden puppies for sale. They were on their way to the Twin Cities to visit family so they brought 5 out of the 10 puppies here and we ended up with Griffin who we renamed Breck, after one of our favorite ski resorts.

It was hard to choose between him and his sister Elle, but in the end we really wanted a male and Breck was one of the calmer males in the litter which is what we wanted. He cried on the way home (tear tear) but he was fine once we got home and we immediately gave him a bath and he fell right asleep in his kennel - yay!

revelation

The only downside of moving to our new house has been my daily commute to and from work everyday. On average it takes 30-40 minutes in the morning and 45+ at night. In my opinion, that's waaaay to much time spent in the car in traffic. I knew I had to make some sort of change in my daily routine. I recently realized there is a Snap Fitness only a couple miles from my work so I decided to try it out tonight. Not only did it feel good to work out - but it only took me 16 minutes to get home!!! I was completely shocked and happy about my new commute home. I came home and was excited to tell Justin about my new workout/driving routine and all he could muster was "I WANT A PUPPY!" (imagine him blurting this out half grunting/half whining.) Followed by "Oh, by the way, I bought a kennel off craigslist today".

Are we ready to be puppy parents?!

My biggest fear is that our fictional puppy will feel the need to break the one and only rule mentioned above and destroy our brand new floors... Regardless, its only a matter of time until we bring a little guy home :)

let there be light

Mom and Mark made the journey to MSP this weekend to help out on the house. Again, none of this reno would be possible without the help of our families. Mom, Mark, Demolition Dino, Grams, Doug, Beth and Shelley have been completely amazing - they have helped us get our house into a livable condition in 2 weeks- that's pretty darn good if you ask me!

Anywho, we tackled the lighting and painting this weekend (and an additional project which I will reveal at the end :)

Here are some nap shots of the new and improved lighting around the house and a few pictures that we hung.
