i love lamp

Winter's cold temps and shorter days mean less time spent outside and more time inside, crafting to my hearts content.  Lately I've started getting bored with our bedroom. I originally wanted our bedroom to be a tranquil retreat with cool, monochromatic colors. As much as I tried to make it work I just wasn't digging it. The rest of my house has warmer colors, reds, blues, greens, etc. I needed color in the bedroom, and lots of it.

I was tempted to completely redo our room (much against Justin's will) until I saw this bedroom redo and I started to invision our current room with accent colors and more patterns.

But it wasn't until I saw this pinterest pic that it became clear. Add pops of mustard yellow and grey (plus I am going to throw some coral in there, too). I've seen that quilt at Target before, but alas it's no longer available. I did, however, find that same pattern in tablecloth form. Perfect, I can work with that.

I decided to recover our boring lamp shades with my fun new tablecloth. I love them!

 BEFORE (horrible pic)

                                                                              AFTER!

I'm going to hang these prints above the bed.

Now I just need to go to ikea and buy 4 Ribba frames...

I'm also going to make a mini gallery wall out of the following prints...

Luke Bryan

Last night Justin's dreams came true - we scored last minute tickets to the Luke Bryan concert for his 27th birthday! We saw Lee Bryce, Josh Thompson & Luke. All 3 guys were awesome and put on rockin shows! The best part of Luke's show? His sexiness...swoon.

check out this video which displays all of his hotness in action

oops

This morning I dropped my iphone, on the ground, face down. I was not prepared for what I saw when I picked up the phone and flipped it over.... a cracked screen. SHIT! While I'm not well versed on iphone replacement options, I knew it was going to set me back a couple hundred bucks, which I would reluctantly pay because there's absolutely no way I was going back to my spare blackberry. Once you go iphone you don't go back. period. end of story. I cried, in my cube, for 10 minutes... mad at my carelessness and soon to be empty wallet. (for those of you who remember, I dropped my macbook in 2008 and cracked the screen. It was traumatic and this little phone incident brought back baaaad memories.)

I immediately made an appointment at the Apple store inside the MOA. Long story short, the nicest lady gave me a remanufactured phone for free! She said it was a one time deal (note to self, don't drop your phone again because no one is going to bail you out!). I immediately bought a purple Otterbox (aka bulky, bomb proof phone cover) which I will sport from here on out.

What an emotional day! (insert slight sarcasm)

Clearly I know there are much worse things in life than breaking a material possession, but I think all iphone users would share in my misery over a broken iphone.

In other news, I've begun operation paint-all-of-the-trim-in-the-house. Wish me luck!
p.s. the lighting is horrible

iphone photo dump

Here's what we've been up to lately... and by lately I really mean over the last 2 months since I suck at blogging...

Oh, and the photos are not in sequential order.. good luck following along :)

Twin's game over the 4th of July with Doug and Beth!
Brecker getting a sun tan this am
Breck had his manhood surgery a couple months ago. Poor guy had to wear a cone for 2 weeks because he kept licking his stitches. You better believe he ran into everything in my house with that XXL cone on. ugh.
I took up a new hobby... magnet making. I am going to sell them in my mom's booth at the Brass Armadillo!
A washed out pic from Stella's Fish Cafe. The roof top deck was the perfect place to be last night.
New porch planters. Love them!
Love me some family snuggle time on the couch. Not sure how I always end up on the bottom of the dog pile.
We went to Stillwater over the 4th. Its by far my favorite place to go in the metro area.

Jason Mraz concert over the 4th of July weekend... he as AMRAZING.
New mailbox (made by Justin) and landscaping. yay for progress!
Dave & Jenny's wedding! It was perfection.
Jenny and I at her rehearsal dinner :)
Marin, Dad and I at my cousin's wedding.
Carolyn and I at her wedding in May. She looked beautiful!
Breck being Breck.
NYC! I went to NJ for a quick work trip the first week in May.  Hopefully my next work trip includes a trip INTO the city, not just a drive by photoshoot...
My first Target field experience back in May. Such an awesome stadium! Well done, Twins, well done.
The 3 monster's dragging me all over WDM.
New plants along the back of the garage. Like I said above, we are making some serious landscaping progress on this little ranch house.
Horseback riding for my bday! SO much fun followed by SO much soreness.
Justin fell asleep ipading last night. #addicted

Regular blog posts on my immediate to do list.

Happy Sunday Funday! We are off to Mama G's for a bags tournament!

happy new year

I've never been one to really give 100% at much in life. I generally live by the rule that if I can give 80 or 90% and get by, why try harder? Sounds pretty lame to admit but its the truth. Hence the reason I was never a huge believer in new years resolutions. Even if I made resolutions in years past, I never stuck with them past February! Now that I have a husband, dog, house and job, I feel an urge to actually give 100%... shocking, I know! I guess this is what it means to grown up, huh?! At any rate, I went shopping today and unknowing purchased a few items that will help me reach my "life resolutions". Yeah, screw the whole new year resolutions, I'm going for full on lifestyle changes. I'm in it for the long haul (so, April if I'm lucky).

I purchased a binder for all 3 recipes I've printed off the internet. Now I have a stylish place to keep yummy/healthy recipes I come across. Think I can collect 50 recipes by the end of the year? I certainly hope so but here's to trying!

A new calendar (I heart calendars). Justin doesn't understand the need for a paper calendar with tools such as google calendar/ical/and the calendar on my blackberry. All of those electronic calendars are great and all, but I like to look at my week ahead and know whats coming up! There's something to be said for writing down events the old fashion way... it makes me much more excited for them!

Weights. Yeah, in 2011 I'm actually going to workout ALL YEAR LONG. I did great last Jan/Feb/March but totally and completely fell off the wagon once the weather got nice out. I am going to do a mix of home videos and trips to the gym. I'm gonna need some serious motivation to make this one happen!

Breck really wanted to play with my weights! Maybe its because they look just like his toy!

Other goals include but are not limited to -
- Read 26 books this year. I've never done it before but I believe its very possible.
- SAVE SAVE SAVE- we have many projects to do on the house and that takes MONEY MONEY MONEY!
- Complete said projects including the basement, fence and front/back patios
- Travel

That's all I can think of for now. Better not add anymore for fear I wont be able to stick with what I already have going on!

Here's to a happy and productive new year!
