jmc concert

This post is dedicated to all my country music loving fans...
When I was driving to work yesterday (yes, that seems weird to me too!)I heard that Jason Michael Carroll was playing in Woodbury and the admission was only 10 bucks! So tonight Justin and I fought the after work traffic and finally made it to Throwbacks Bar and Grille in enough time to grab a table before he took the stage.

The concert was pretty good even though he only played for an hour :( After the concert, I briefly waited in line to get our new CD's aka "10 dollar tickets" signed when Justin and I both decided we didn't really need to wait forever just for a scribble on paper.. and we clearly had other more important things to do, like go to Home Goods... :) So we headed for the door and as we were walking into the parking lot we hear someone say "great concert man!!" Justin and I whip around to see Jason re-entering the restaurant from the front door! I quickly fumbled in my purse for my camera, tossed it to Justin who WAVED at JMC, so he politely waved back and posed for a pic! How funny that we decided against waiting in line, only to get a great picture of him instead!

Our current favorite song is called Where I'm From by JMC- I wasn't able to get a real video of the song when he played it.

p.s How amazing was the George Straight concert special on CBS last night!?!

duddly

Meet Duddly, a mini goldendoodle that belongs to my Dad & Sherry. He is the cutest puppy in the world! He loves to play fetch and his little fluff ball body just slides around on the hardwood floors... so adorable!

(I promise this will be the last animal post for awhile :)

good morning

I literally crawled out of bed, walked 5 steps and this is what happened.. silly dogs, but you gotta love them!

i got a job!

I'm joining the working world next Wednesday - I got a JOB!! Everyone keeps saying this is a difficult time for graduates to find a job - let me assure you, it is! A couple nights ago the news reported that 19% of U of M grads had jobs-- people, that's an awful statistic!! Anyways, I am super thankful and excited to be employed and I think I will really enjoy working for the company.
The balloons are a hint as to what I will be doing everyday... more details to come later! I must shower so we can head home for Memorial Day :)

P.S. I can wear jeans to work everyday- woo hoo!

flash back

Two years ago today, our world looked like this...

This is the first and last time I will ever blog about the accident - but its apart of our story and deserves a brief mentioning on the blog. Long story short, Justin and I were in a rollover accident on I-35 on May 12, 2007. After a helicopter/ambulance ride, x-rays and peeing in a kidney shaped bucket while laying down (I left all dignity at the site of the accident) we somehow survived the ordeal with minor injuries and a story for the grand kids. I'm so thankful to the many people who helped us out during those scary moments post-accident. I don't remember any faces, but my heart remembers their acts of kindness.

*If you are one of those people who prefers not to wear their seat belt, I hope these pictures make you realize that life is too short to be laying in a ditch somewhere because you were too lazy, too cool, or uninterested in wearing a device that very well may save your life when you least expect it.*

i heart home

What a crazy weekend we have had! Here is a quick run down of our activities... We spent Friday night in Ames with all of our good friends. Spending time with them made me feel like I never even left Ames.. that's the sign of true friendship- you can always pick up right where you left off. I'm glad I got to celebrate ISU graduation/beginning of summer with them :)

On Saturday we went to WDM, saw the fam and the pups, hung out with Dad and Sherry, checked out our wedding/reception site (I'm SOOOOO excited about this place.. check out the wedding blog for a picture preview!!!) went to an family gathering on Justin's side, went to a welcome home party and finally ended the night in Ames.

Sunday we spent the day with our amazing moms- the perfect end to a GREAT weekend at home!!

I'm spending a few more days in WDM while I tackle a mile long to-do list that includes...

- getting my ring re-sized
- haircut
- bank
- post office
- finish cleaning the car
- selling clothes @ plato's closet
- selling books @ half price book store (are we noticing a pattern here.. I need $ ;)
- lunch w/ Nancy
- coffee w/ J-P
- dress shopping with Sissy :)
- I know there is more but I can't remember right now haha

we. are. back!!!

We made it home!! Our flight arrived in MSP at 5:30p.m. on Saturday and it feels SO good to be back!! We haven't experienced much jet lag since we purposely stayed up until 3 am Brussels time for a week so that we would have an easier transition. Justin's parents picked us up from the airport and took us out to dinner at Green Mill (we ate lots of wings/buffalo bites:)

Our apartment/condo/townhouse (I really don't know the proper term for the place we live so I just use all of them interchangeably) was still intact with an added layer of dust. When we checked on my car in the basement we found this...

Poor car had a layer of dust over the already existing salt/dirt combo that we didn't wash off before we left!

Yesterday we went mini golfing with Cody and Dana and then added Carlene and Bray to the mix and grabbed a burger. I can't even explain how good it felt to socialize with friends again! I definitely missed that the most while in Brussels.

We don't have internet at place so I will be updating the blog via the local Dunn Bros Coffee. Hopefully we get internet in the next few days so we don't go crazy, although its quite nice living without it.

Next countdown... Ames & WDM in 4 days!!!
