brecky mail

Justin usually brings the mail inside every night but sometimes I get excited at the possibility of something good being in the mail so then I will grab it. Well on Thursday I had that feeling of something exciting waiting in the mailbox so I brought the mail in and found nothing for me, but TWO things for Breck! What a lucky, lucky dog he is!

Justin custom designs Breck's dog tags and has them sent over from China. He uses the Coors logo and substitutes Breck's name. Breck's current dog tag is getting a little beat up so Justin ordered two backups. What a nice pappa :)

Earlier this year Justin and I went to see our good friends Mike & Carlene in Denver. While we were there we went Breck for the day to go hiking. Justin and I were determined to find an "I heart Breck" sticker in honor of our baby Brecky. We couldn't find ANYTHING (except for maybe an overpriced t-shirt) that said I heart Breck so we gave up. Well Mike & Carlene sent us a cute card in the mail with an I heart Breck sticker they recently found! How thoughtful! Thanks Mike & Carlene :)

In other Brecky news, he ate this golden retriever sized crater out of the cake I made for Justin. This didn't go over well since the last time I made Justin a treat (brownies) Breck licked the last few remaining pieces. Sigh

christmas gift ideas

Lately I have been obsessed with figuring out which gifts I would like to give/receive for Christmas. I am more excited to GIVE gifts than ever before. I think the fact that Justin and I are now married and finally feeling settled into our house makes me feel more adultish and therefore more excited to give than receive? At any rate... I've been hounding people for ideas because I want to make sure their gifts are just right! I've had a hard time coming up with things that I would like to get for Christmas so I created a gift list. The gift list is a mixture of things I already own/love that might make nice gifts for others and things I would secretly like to have. A win/win for everyone!

p.s. I started this post on 11.19.10 and thought I would come back to it in a few days. Well, a few days turned into 2 weeks..oops. So here I am, listening to Michael Buble Holiday on Pandora (thanks for the recommend Sissy) to put myself in the mood to virtual shop!

2011 Calendar from Papaya

I have the 2010 version of this gem and I adore it!! The pages are filled with beautiful artwork and plenty of room to write down life's most important events - in my case that consists of bills to pay and trips back to Iowa, ha. The best part is there is a mini file folder on the inside of the front cover that is perfect for coupons or other loose papers that need a home. I would looove to have the 2011 version - you can buy it for me here ->

Patagonia Lugano Boots

I just got these boots in the mail yesterday and I am super excited to start wearing them (they are technically from my mom so I will wait until 12.25 to break them in). At any rate these boots have outstanding reviews on line, are warm and waterproof - what more do you need? The best part? I got them on sale for $70 instead of $160... yay!

Kate Spade Marivaux Cosmetics Case

I suppose I can admit I don't need this but a girl can certainly want, right? For $65 bucks I feel like this item is on the cusp of being a little too expensive...whatever, I happen to really like it. A little Kate can go a lonnnng way :)

Lululemon Everywhere Gym Bag

I have a thing for bags and this one ranks at the top of my wish list. I saw it when we were in NYC and I immediately wanted to bring it home with me. For $88 bucks this is the ultimate workout bag. Tons of storage, quality construction and waterproof material make it the ideal workout bag. If I actually worked out then I could justify the purchase. Until then, consider it on the wish list.

Bedding for my Office

Originally I thought I wanted this cute persimmon colored quilt from West Elm for the twin bed in my office. I opted for this bedding below from BB&B via my momma for Christmas (are we noticing a trend here? I pick out my gifts and then magically end up under the tree? Me like). I'm waiting until I bring it home and bust it out before I make the final decision to go the BB&B route... thoughts?
The bedding belongs in this room...

The best gift ever? The present Justin recently gave to himself... welcome to your new home, ipad.

Welp, thats all I've got for now... if I run across anything else I/you can't live without I will be sure to post about it :)

sunday funday

today's activities at the atwood house included:

-test driving a new church here in the twin cities - its called eagle brook and it averages 12,000 worshipers per week. wow. the size of the church and the style of worship are very different from what we grew up with. we thought today's sermon was good and we are excited to return in a couple of weeks!

-raking MORE leaves and playing lots of fetch with dog

- making homemade chicken noodle soup... it was so good our friend ben drove all the way from uptown to partake!

- scrapbooking! i love to scrapbook but not necessarily with pictures. i collect brochures, magazines, ticket stubs, receipts, etc. whenever we go on vacation and then i make a mixed media (except its pretty much all paper, but i like to think it looks like a cool/funky piece of mixed media art) scrapbook full of all the crap we would normally throw away!

happy sunday :)

open fly jeans

Yeah, yeah, yeah... its been FOREVER since I have posted anything but I promise to hit ya with all sorts of posts in the next few weeks! I am going to be recapping the last 4 months of my life in no particular order so if I post wedding pictures before engagement pictures, deal with it ;)

My first post will be a recap of Halloween weekend. As many of you know, Mr. Favre has been all over the media the last few weeks regarding pictures of his pee pee that he allegedly sent to a NY Jets employee. After seeing the "Open Fly Guy" clip from SNL, Justin knew who/what he wanted to be for Halloween. He went out and bought some Vikings gear and a dog bone to make a very realistic looking penis. By default I had to go as Jen Sterger, the NY Jets girl that received the nasty pictures. We took our costumes and headed to downtown Minneapolis. It was a lot of fun and there were some awesomely creative costumes out there!

Click here to watch the No Fly Guy Video... its hilarious! http://www.sportsgrid.com/nfl/snl-brett-favre-commercial/

the fortress

Our fence is 95% of the way done... YAY! The fortress has been quite a daunting project to take on. Thirty some post holes had to be measured, dug, filled with concrete, etc etc. Thanks again to my Dad and Sis for coming up to help us work on the fence, we couldn't have done it without you! We are in a hurry to get it finished because an incomplete fence is pretty worthless to a buckin' bronco named Breck seeing as he can't roam free until the fence is done. We plan on putting stone on the unfinished wood posts.. but that will be later this summer when our funds have recuperated from this project.

overnight male

Justin bought this outfit for Brecky Boy when he was just a pup but now that hes a grown up he can fit into it. I guess since Justin didn't follow in the family footsteps and become a rural mail carrier, he thought maybe Breck could carry on the tradition.

"touch my uniform again and i WILL bite you"

Riding the Puppy Express

Only fitting to include this video since Justin/me/Marin/Kimmy are all in love with Pure Country. This video hails from a lovely decade called the 90's.

pup school grad

I am happy to report that Brecky Baby graduated from Level 1 pup class!! While many of you would assume Breck graduated top of his class, I must inform you that some weeks were a struggle for him (and us, duh). The first few weeks he was a ball of energy and we spent the whole class trying to control him. After a few more classes he got the hang of it and learned how to pay attention/perform tricks and in turn get lots of nummy treats! While he never got asked to be a demonstrator (not once.. I'm a little bitter) we have high hopes for the next round of classes! Level 2 here we come!!
