haus maus

Haus Maus. New favorite blog or pesky rodent looking for grub in my kitchen?! The answer: BOTH!!

A few weeks ago I found the cutest blog called Haus Maus (House Mouse). Its about an American living as an expat in her German husband's hometown of Hannover, Germany. I love her design ideas and her blog reminds me of our time in Brussels.

A few hours ago I discovered my own little haus maus- except I am not impressed in the least with this kind of haus maus. While watching TV last night, I heard a noise coming from the kitchen so I turned around to see what it was. Nothing. The next time I looked, there he was, inches from the oven. I whispered soft but urgently to Justin, "WAKE UP! WE HAVE A MOUSE!!!!!!!!" He turned around and quickly spotted him before he ran behind the stove. GREAT, we have a mouse!! I know this is certainly not the worse thing to ever happen to me, but growing up we NEVER had mice in our house. Even when I lived in a 50 year old house, there were no mice around. My aunts, however, had mice that would frequent their house, and I vividly remember not liking it.

I finally forced myself into the kitchen this morning to make breakfast (thanks for waking us up at 5:30 today Breck! We desperately need to get you off farm time). On the counter I noticed a lovely mouse dropping, GREAT.

In all honestly we knew there was a possibility of mice. Justin saw one in the garage a couple months ago and I have been worried we would have one ever since. I am pretty confident the mouse recently got in because there has been no evidence of mouse sightings until now.

Hear this little mousey wousey, you better leave NOW or else you're going to die. period.

For my sister, of course.

I know where you can get a few kitties that would love to be indoor kitties!! Breck slept in on the weekend on the farm!! Grandma Ginny said she likes sticky traps. Can't you just see Breck with a sticky trap stuck to him. The wooden traps with the plastic yellow looking cheese seem to have the best snap to kill the little suckers. Watch out they will snap you too if you aren't careful as you set them. Oh yeah, usually if you see one there are more.
Miss you
